Club 55+ Activities and Events
New and Modified In-Person Programs
To better address our community’s programming needs in this ever-changing environment, Canton Leisure Services will be modifying all new and existing programming opportunities here. All of these programs have been developed to allow for safe physical distancing, smaller class sizes, equipment sanitizing procedures, and more.
Look for exciting new recreational programs and events to be rolled out on an ongoing basis throughout the fall. As we move forward, watch for new programs to be announced as they become available, with registration beginning once posted.

Indoor Programs
Please Note: Canton Club 55+ Program Guidelines
- Masks are strongly recommended while inside the Summit.
- Participants must pre-register for each activity, excluding billiards.
- Club 55+ center is now open for limited in-person activities. The desk is open Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.

indoor walking track 2023 membership
- Canton Club 55+ currently offers a Striders membership which will give individuals ages 55+ access to the Summits walking track at a discounted price. For more information, call Canton Club 55+ at 734/394-5485.

AFGHAN/KNITTING CLUB
- Join this wonderful group every Tuesday to make afghans for family, friends, and our soldiers. This group also works on knitted/crocheted dishcloths as well as hats and scarves for the homeless veterans

Billiards

- Have you been wanting to learn how to play billiards? Come and join this small group class. Space is very limited for this 4-week clinic.

Euchre
- Euchre is a fast-paced partner-based card game. It requires a little bit of skill as well as luck! Played usually with the highest 32 cards, in which each player is dealt 5 cards and the player making the trump is required to take at least 3 tricks to win. Come join the fun!

MahJong
- Similar to the Western card game rummy, MahJong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. The group is very welcoming and will teach those that are new to the game. Come and enjoy this fun yet challenging game.

pioneer leadership opportunities
- The Pioneer luncheon/social club is seeking candidates who are interested in becoming the next president, since Joan Hewitt will be ending her long tenure June. If you have leadership skills, consider letting us put your name on the ballot. New board officers will be elected in April and will take office in September. Please call Nancy G. aarp safe driver course

- This two-day course reviews the currents rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate a vehicle more safely. Learn how to manage common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction times. Please bring your own lunch and beverage.

the senior alliance community needs listening session

- The Senior Alliance is conducting a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment of older adults in Wayne County. They are seeking adults (ages 60+) in an interactive conversation about their experiences. This feedback will be used to direct the programming for Senior Alliance.
