Trail Development
EXISTING TRAIL NETWORK
Canton's trail system continues to expand annually through the help of partnerships and grants. Canton residents and guests can access most parks and neighborhoods via the Lower Rouge Trail, Fellows Creek Wetland Nature Trail, ITC Corridor Trail, I-275 Metro Trail and other local pathways. A popular Canton destination is the Lower Rouge Trail (PDF) Opens in New Window , which follows along the Lower Rouge River from Canton Center Road to the I-275 Metro Trail. Here visitors can commune with nature, while strolling/running/biking on this 12-foot-wide,finely screen limestone path as they pass through scenic woodlands and cross several bridges over the Lower Rouge River. Just west of bridge #6, the ITC Corridor Trail begins and heads north connecting with Flodin and Griffin Parks. Watch for future expansion of the Lower Rouge Trail east to the Hannan Road border.
Access to the existing trail network can be obtained via several locations throughout Canton. The Canton Trails Map (PDF) Opens in New Window provides appropriate entry points, cross-walks, and parking. For more information on the trail system or to become an advocate for the trails please contact the Canton Leisure Services Parks Office at 734/394-5310.
